Artist Statement

I’ve been drawing and painting all my life. My first art memory is from nursery school, painting a big, juicy snake.

My style combines representation, abstraction, and the pleasures of my media.

I’m drawn to how people behave towards our natural world. Sometimes I tell the story through a non-human perspective.

For decades I painted in watercolour. These days, I’m working in soft pastels and mixed media, often using geological maps and navigational charts as my substrate. I’m also exploring sculptural assemblies made from trash.

When I’m not making art, I’m studying violin, naturalizing my gardens, or riding my mare Georgia Grace. I live in Meaford, Ontario with my husband Paul, and Meredith our cat.
